The Town Board was torn between candidates Bob Harris, Bob Lennington, and CJ Maxwell at Thursday’s Board Meeting as they struggled to choose their newest member of the Planning Board, which designs plans for new projects in town and makes sure they are efficient and to code before presenting plans to the Town Board.
“Mr. Harris is the pick tonight,” said Town Supervisor William Wadsworth. “But we know that other positions are likely to open up and I’m sure we will be back to do this again very soon.”
The vote was split 3-2, with Wadsworth, Deputy Supervisor Roberta Irwin, and council member Jerry Wrubel voting in favor of appointing Harris and council members Patti LaVigne and Felicisimo (Hop) Manapol voting against.
LaVigne and Manapol added that the Town Board is currently more urban-oriented, and could use someone better representing the agriculture base.
Wadsworth added that these votes are usually unanimous and Thursday’s split vote indicates that the other two candidates were also very qualified and well-suited for the job.
