LIMA – This weekend’s Lima Crossroads Festival brought a happy crowd and many businesses out to enjoy a day in the sun, especially the unforgettable annual bed races.
Businesses, clubs, churches and both candidate teams for Livingston County District Attorney gleefully sped down East Main Street on wheeled mattresses to shoot basketballs through a hoop in front of the historic American Hotel for a chance at cash prizes and lifelong bragging rights.
Of the nine competing teams, winners were: Baptist Racers with a $300 prize, Rick Milne for State Assembly with a $100 prize and HFL CougarTech Robotics with the $50 prize.
The festival continued into the night while Joe Beard with Steve Grills & The Roadmasters played at the Crossroads Blues Festival, followed by James Armstrong.
The festival continues as it has since 1975 due to the collaboration of the Village of Lima, the Lima Crossroads Council, and their dozens of local sponsors, the full list of which are available on the Lima Crossroads Festival Facebook page. This year’s official festival sponsor was SkyPort IT, Inc.
