GENESEO – Main Street will be closed tomorrow morning from approximately 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for a very important reason.
According to Constance K. Bassett and David Cann of Moorland Studios, Emmeline, Geneseo’s famous bronze bear, and her fountain will return to Main Street from approximately 7 a.m. until 9 a.m.
A crane will remove the existing basin and install the new one. Moorland Studios teamed up with village officials and the Association for the Preservation Of Geneseo (APOG) to restore Emmeline and her pedestal and completely rebuild the fountain basin from raw granite based on 3-D imaging commissioned by APOG.
A milk truck struck the fountain in April 2016, destroying its granite basin and damaging the bear and pedestal.
