BASEBALL: Geneseo captures Class CC title

BATAVIA — Behind strong pitching from Geneseo Blue Devils’ right-hander Ben Kelly, the Blue Devils won the Class CC title for the second year in a row, defeating the Red Jacket Indians, 4-1, earlier tonight.

Kelly was masterful for the Blue Devils, throwing a complete game, allowing one run on four hits, while striking out 18.

The Blue Devils led from the outset, as Kelly pitched in on the offensive end with a two-run double in the first.

From there, the Blue Devils would add two more runs late in the game, more than enough for their dominant senior pitcher.

The Blue Devils will play on Saturday in a state qualfer verses the victor of the game between the Class C winner and Class CCC winner. The location and time are to be determined.
