One of Flint’s runs came in a first inning in which Geneseo was able to get out to a 2-0 early lead.
“It’s huge when our guys can throw and not be afraid of giving up a hit,” Geneseo manager Nick Drollette said about creating early leads. “Jameson [Moran] is a guy who pitches to contact anyway, so today he was fine with letting them hit it. He’s not going to get upset if he gives up a run.”
Moran, the 5’5″ junior pitcher, struck out nine Attica batters in the complete game win, giving up just two runs, both coming in the seventh inning when Geneseo were up 12-0.
Geneseo junior catcher Cory Valentine went 2-2 with three walks and four runs scored, and senior outfielder Jimmy Root went 2-3 including a monstrous triple to centerfield in the sixth inning, and scored on a wild pitch later that inning.
Geneseo (17-1) will play its final regular season game on Friday at home vs. Keshequa.
