AVON—Connor O’Donoghue’s huge performance both on the mound and with his bat led the Braves to a 7-0 win over the Perry Yellow Jackets Friday night.

O’Donoghue completed the shutout with nine strikeouts, while only walking three and allowing four hits.
“I thought O’Donoghue pitched a great game. I thought our defense played a lot better behind him. We had a couple errors early, but after that we really settled in,” head coach, Rob Fries said.
Up 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Coyne, Zach Rizzolo, and Danny Welch each had RBI hits, giving O’Donoghue all the run support he would need. Seeking more insurance, O’Donoghue had an RBI single in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
“We’re hitting better and getting better defensively, we just haven’t put a lot of games together for seven innings and this is one of the ones we did. Hopefully we built on it and have better things to come,” Fries said.
