Bananas Split as Tractor Trailer Rolls Over in Pavilion

GENESEE COUNTY – The York Fire Department was called to shut down traffic on Genesee Street at its intersection with Main Street in York following a tractor trailer rollover in Pavilion Friday evening. First responders told reporters on scene that the truck was packed with bananas.

The truck apparently  ran off the road, struck a utility pole and tipped onto its side at about 6:15p.m. Wyoming County Deputies added that the driver was uninjured and remained on scene as they investigated the scene.

“Last I heard, the driver was ok,” said Deputy Aaron Chase. “But I wasn’t the first on scene. He was not taken to Strong. Last I saw, he was still here.”

The utility pole was crushed under the truck’s massive nose, and its power lines lay on the ground. There was no indication that any local homes lost power during the incident.

Deep skidmarks led up to the scene from further up the road.
