GENESEO – A faulty brake is to blame for lighting a contractor’s loaded trailer on fire Tuesday morning, bringing University Police and Geneseo Fire and Ambulance to bear on the SUNY Geneseo campus.
The fire started after 7 a.m. when a contractor pulled onto the SUNY Geneseo campus.
“A contractor was coming onto campus pulling a flat-bed trailer with some equipment and noticed some smoke coming from the trailer so he pulled onto a nearby campus strip lot to check it,” said David Irwin, Media Relations Director at SUNY Geneseo . “Turns out one of the rear wheel assemblies was on fire.”
University Police responded and attempted to put out the fire with an extinguisher while the Geneseo Fire Department firemen responded.
Geneseo firefighters eventually extinguished the blaze.
No one was injured in the incident.
