SPARTA – Two southern Livingston County residents were arrested on Friday by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Dansville Police in connection with an alleged knifepoint robbery on a back road in Sparta.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Ford Beman, 21 of Sparta, and Mary Cronin, 19, of Dansville, were charged with Robbery in the Second Degree.
On Oct. 30 at about approximately 8:30 p.m., the Livingston County Emergency Communications Center received a call from a Dansville resident reporting that he was robbed of $400 at knife point.
The initial investigation revealed the incident occurred on a back road in the Town of Sparta. Sheriff’s Office members, along with Dansville Police Officers, recovered the stolen money and arrested two suspects.
Both Beman and Cronin were arraigned in the Town of North Dansville court before Judge Weidman. Both were remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
Conducting the investigation and arrests for the Sheriff’s Office were Captain Brian Applin, Investigator Brad Schneider, Sergeant Joe Breu, Deputy Michael Williams (FIU), Deputy Michael Wade, and Deputy Connor Sanford. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was Officer Bryan Chapman and Officer Larry Burley from the Dansville Police Department along with the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
