WEST SPARTA – Gerad Levey, current Town Supervisor who has announced his plans to resign, says that he plans to remain in his position until a successor can be appointed.
Levey, who has served as Town Supervisor for the past two years, has one year remaining in his term. He says that his breadwinner career as Project Coordinator at Tronconi Segarra & Associates LLP, a public accounting and business consulting firm headquartered near Buffalo, is an excessive strain on his political ability in West Sparta. However, he plans to remain as Town Supervisor until a successor can be appointed, which, he says, will be sooner rather than later.
“If my seat was vacated before September 16, the Republican Party would have nominated a candidate for the upcoming election,” said Levey. “Now that the September 16 deadline has passed, I will be here until we as a Town Board can work together to appoint someone.”
Levey says he will move closer to Rochester and pursue a Masters Degree in Accounting after he officially resigns.
The West Sparta Town Board is currently down one member, Aaron Blow, who resigned on July 31. The current four members, plus Levey, will be working together to appoint a successor over the next few weeks.
