Sandra ‘Sandy’ Irish was the first woman elected to the Avon Town Board. She served the Town for over 20 years and just earlier this year received the Avon Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award.

November 25, 2017 at age 69. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Welch; sister, Patricia Trimble; and parents, Sam and Thelma Toarmino. She is survived by her children, Robert (Autumn) Welch, Mark (Jennifer) Welch; grandchildren, Lindsey, Michael and Victoria Welch; brother, Paul (Bonnie) Toarmino; Sister-in-law, Mary (Bill) Nevin; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Sandy was very community oriented. She was active in the Repbulican Party, and served as Avon Deputy Town Clerk. She was the first woman on the Avon Town Board and served for over 20 years. In 2017, Sandy the recipient of the Avon Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Family and friends are invited to her funeral mass Friday 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 96 Prospect St., Avon. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery.
