MOUNT MORRIS – An Avon resident was arrested in Mount Morris for Welfare Fraud on Tuesday for allegedly failing to report income from a person in her household while on welfare.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Veronica Race, 29, was arrested for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, both class E felonies.
It is alleged that Race added a subject to her Temporary Assistance Case and failed to report income from the third party. This made for a $2,300 overpayment under fraudulent conditions.
Race was arrested and arraigned in Geneseo Town Court before Judge Houston and will be back in court in Mount Morris later this month.
The investigation and arrest were handled by Investigator Dan Rittenhouse of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance of Livingston County’s Department of Social Services Fraud Investigation Unit.
