LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston Cycling Club officially announced that the Rock Race Weekend will combine new events and locations with some of their classic athletic events.
According to the first official press release for the Rock Race, there will be two days of bike and running races with cash prizes in omnium fields,
custom winners’ jerseys, handmade trophies constructed from real American Rock salt to elite fields, custom event socks and t-shirts, equal payouts,
masters and juniors fields along with professional mechanical support, timing and sanctioning.
Day one, July 22, will be a full schedule of criterium racing at the Warsaw/Perry Airfield, making for a great free spectator event and an awesome race venue. This fast, wide course offers four turns in just under a mile with the slightest bit of uphill gain. Spectators will have a full view of the track on the open airfield. Just as in the past, we will have cash primes, professional timing, a full staff of USAC officials, and Bike Loft East Neutral Support will provide neutral wheels and bikes in the pit.
Throughout the day, Rochester Sky Divers will also perform jumps at the airfield, and we will award a FREE JUMP gift certificate to the most aggressive rider across all fields. Additionally, we will host a 2-mile run in the morning where we will award a Custom Rock trophy to the winner of both the Men’s and Women’s overall fields, free entry to kids 12 and under for the run and a free kids bike race (see online reg page for details)
The first 150 athletes (riders and runners combined) for Saturday’s races will receive a free pair of custom event socks. Event posters, t-shirts, and food will be available for sale in the spectator tent.
July 23 will be the LCC’s newest event, the Rock Road Race in Avon. Races will be held on a 19-mile loop with 700 feet of elevation per lap that will feature downtown Avon and some of the best rural roads Livingston County has to offer. Riders who register before July 10 will get a free event t-shirt and just like for the crit, we will have professional timing, a full staff of USAC officials, and Bike Loft East Neutral Support providing services to all fields.
Simultaneously, we will also host the Rock Gran Fondo for the third year in a row from the same start finish/line as the races. The Fondo is a non-competitive ride with distances for all abilities (30, 50, 75 mile options). Our long course still features the monster climbs of Vista and Mead Hills and all offer beautiful country roads and routes that include Conesus Lake, on course rest stops and roving mechanical support. All fondo riders who enter before July 10 will also receive a free event shirt. See our website or online reg page for course details.
You can register for any race event online at the race’s website here.
