Avon Corn Fest Bites Into 31st Year Aug. 12

AVON – Music, food and crafts are headed to downtown Avon for the 31st Rotary Cornfest this Saturday.

According to a press release from Avon Rotary’s Robert Mullen, Corn Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Genesee Street, the heart of the Village of Avon.

The Fest’s eight performing bands will be: The Skycoasters, Darby Road, Haywire, Bob’s Brothers Band, String of Pearls, Steel Alchemy, Country Rain and Off the Porch.

There will be kids’ games, dancing, souvenirs and a 50/50 drawing. The Avon Rotary club uses proceeds from the free festival to support many local, state, national and international service organizations and causes.

More than 100 arts and crafts vendors have registered. There are always quilts, pottery, flutes, alpaca fiber products, wine, handbags, fairy houses and much more.

Rotary says that their booth will anchor the food court with corn fritters and freshly steamed corn on the cob, and at least 18 other food vendors will bring tasty options.

There also will be performers from the Dance Emporium, Miss Natalie’s Dance Centre and the Avon Martial Arts Academy. Live entertainment begins at 10 a.m. and concludes with The Skycoasters party band concert from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Free parking and shuttle buses are provided. Further logistics and parking details are available at Avon Rotary’s website here under the Corn Festival link.
