AVON — The village celebrated summer right at Avon Rotary’s 30th Annual Corn Festival.
The Aug. 13 festival delighted and stuffed many with over 20 food trucks, kids attractions, live entertainment and craft vendors lining the street.
“I want to thank all the wonderful people who gave of their time yesterday to support the vendors and attendees,” Expressed one of the craft vendors, Helen Jacob of HIJ Creations on the event’s Facebook page. “Even though the weather was against us with the high heat and the heavy rains, your support made the day enjoyable. I am planning on coming back again.”
Despite the extreme heat and heavy outbursts of rain, the festival was a joy for all. Notable food vendors included Cheese & Confused, Tom Wahl’s, Christy’s Old-Fashioned Kettle Corn, and of course Avon Rotary’s Corn Booth serving up fresh corn on the cob.
Highlights of the festival included plenty of live entertainment on three stages, with headliners, The Skycoasters ending the night on the Main Stage. The Main Stage was also home to the corn eating contest, where all participates were awarded a sweet treat.
Along with the corn contest, kids were kept busy at the ‘kid zone,’ fully equipped with a bounce house, and visits from cookie song writing enthusiast Geoff Clough and Mr. Scribbles, cartoon extraordinaire.
Some lucky guests were even able to meet Kernel Cornfestus, the mascot of the Corn Festival, as he strolled throughout the festival.
Avon rotary thanks their corporate sponsors, entertainment sponsors, patrons and vendors for making this year’s Avon Rotary Corn Festival such a success.
