GENESEO – After 3 months of renovations Aunt Cookies, Main Street’s favorite sub shop, reopened this week. “We are happy to be back, we have missed everybody, “ said Joanne Yarnes, Owner of Aunt Cookies Sub Shop.
Opened in 1971 by Caroline Yarnes known as Cookie, the sub shop has maintained its look for many years. The shop continued to keep the same ambiance when Yarnes sold the business to her son Scott in 1999. For the next 20 years, Scott continued to maintain the same atmosphere his mother had created. “We needed an update” Yarnes continued. After some emotional decision making the owners went forward with updating Caroline’s legacy.
We changed the look but the important thing stayed the same as it always has: the sub. Aunt Cookies Sub Shop continues “to toast its subs and warm your buns” as the staff delightfully say.
The owners and staff encourage all to stop in and see the new look of the local favorite as they continue the legacy that Caroline started on Main Street over 40 years ago.
