YORK — Two people were sent to Strong Memorial hospital, one of which was a 9-year-old child, with serious injuries on Saturday after an ATV accident.

According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, an ATV that was being operated by Edward Lagenfield, 36, from York, and his Nephew, Kenneth Bird Jr., 9, from Rush, was riding in a yard near 2448 Genesee St. when it struck a tree.
Both were transported to Strong Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Bird Jr. was wearing a DOT approved helmet but Lagenfield was not wearing a helmet.
Investigating the incident was Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Investigator Bradley Schneider, Sergeant Joseph Breu, Deputies Michael Williams and Christopher Smith, York and Caledonia Fire and EMS.
In the press release Sheriff Dougherty emphased that residents always need to put safety before comfort and wear a helmet.
