LIVINGSTON COUNTY – A Dansville man who pled guilty to a brutal attack with a pool ball on two others in a Main Street bar was sentenced Tuesday in Livingston County Court.
Gregory Smith, 26, was sentenced to one year in Livingston County Jail for felony Assault after biting and striking two other men with a pool ball. Smith and victims Joshua Stewart and Justin Schlerdor were involved in a sudden melee in the Hammerheads Tavern in Dansville in May. Smith was quiet and polite in court as Judge Robert Wiggins quickly sentenced him.
“Thank you for your time and consideration,” said Smith as he stood calmly at the defendant’s table.
The two victims were not arrested or charged with any crimes, despite early speculations that the situation escalated from a fight. Judge Wiggins issued orders of protection for the victims against Smith.
Smith also has a lesser felony charge related to the incident, Attempted Assault, pending in court.
