LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Art Long, a former NBA basketball player and Rochester hoops legend, has been held on federal drug and weapons charges at the Livingston County Jail since June 25, 2014.

Long, 40, was arrested by the Rochester Police Department last year in Chili and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. It’s likely that Long is being held at the Jail pending his federal charges trial in Monroe County.
According to news partner 13WHAM, Rochester Police conducted a search warrant of Long’s residence, the former NBA pro was charged with possession of marijuana, ecstasy pills, and rounds of ammunition for both a .45 caliber handgun, and rifle.
Once a promising local star, Long played basketball at East High School and University of Cincinnati before his brief stint in the NBA. Long left the NBA in 2004.
