The Livingston County Sheriff’s office announced Saturday the arrest of Gary C. Flemke, 61, of Hemlock, on charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence (a Class E Felony).
The arrest follows an investigation that began Friday evening, February 28, into the disappearance of a woman, a missing persons report by the woman’s out-of-town family, and the discovery of a body behind Flemke’s residence. Flemke lives at 5215 Bald Hill Road (Rte 15A) in the Town of Livonia, Hamlet of Hemlock, near the Livingston/Ontario County line.
According to a Sheriff’s office statement, for a time Friday, Flemke himself was also considered missing. He was located shortly, however, using analysis of vehicle registration information and cell phone data, in “an establishment in the Village of Dansville.” He was located and taken into custody with the assistance of the Village of Dansville Police Department.
This death is being considered suspicious in nature. The Sheriff’s Office is withholding the victim’s name until her identity can be confirmed absolutely. At this time Livingston County Coroner Phil Grandshaw and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is also involved in this investigation.
An internet search shows a Marcia Flemke, 58, at the same address as Gary Flemke, where the body was found Friday.
Flemke was arraigned on the tampering with evidence charge in the Town of Livonia Court before Justice Robert Lemen and is currently in the Livingston County Jail on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.
