Pizza Corners owner Dawn Cuddeback said that her two employees were at the shop at about 8 p.m. when a man came in wearing a t-shirt and a backwards baseball cap.
“The girls said he was really sketchy looking,” said Cuddeback. “He looked around, asked when we close, and said ‘This looks really different from when I worked here in Pizza King.’ When he left the girls called me at home and said a sketchy guy just came in and was looking around, maybe looking for security cameras. I told them to both stay at the store until close and to bring all of the money home with them. Then my girl said over the phone ‘He’s got a gun. Call 911.'”
Cuddeback described the man as a ‘dark-complected white male with dark hair.’ He had returned to the store in a dark blue hoodie with the hood up and a black handgun.
“He said ‘give me all the money in the register,’ and my girl was kind of freaked out,” said Cuddeback. “She froze, put her hands up and said ‘I don’t know how to do any of that.’ So he grabbed the register himself and started banging it around. He literally took the time to sort out the 20’s from the receipts and dropped them on his way out.”
One of the employees ran out of the shop to see where the man went. She says he ran past the CVS, where she lost sight of him. He had taken a few hundred dollars in cash.
The Dansville Police Department is searching for the man with the assistance of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. Police may have recovered the suspect’s fingerprints. Anyone with any knowledge of who the man may be is urged to call the Dansville Police Department at (585) 335-3385.
‘I grew up in Dansville,” said Cuddeback. “It’s been at least 30 years since there’s been any break-ins at Main Street storefronts. It’s not what we’re used to. It’s literally the last thing you think of out here!”
