GENESEO – This year’s Wingfest is cooking up to be delicious, with a fantastic assortment of wings available on Center Street during Autumnfest.
Kurt Cylke with the Association for the preservation of Geneseo said that planning is currently under way, and the event will be joined this year by a special guest, mascot Lucky Clucky.
“We will be moving from the Village Park to Center Street, but Autumnfest was planning on closing Center Street anyway, plus we will have a mascot, Lucky Clucky,” said Cylke. “What this offers the merchants is that they don’t have to provide as many activities.”
The festival will be held on Sept. 26 from 11 a.m to 4 p.m.
Last year’s Wingfest bought local residents, SUNY students, professors to the Village Park.
The idea for a chicken wing festival and eating contest to benefit was hatched by SUNY Geneseo students Beverly Hirschmann, Erika Portellizo, and Sarah Christ in 2014.
