INTERSTATE 390: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Rochester, NY man on drug related charges after a traffic stop. On December 7, 2018 Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Operation Safe Interstate initiative, when he stopped vehicle for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation that occurred on the interstate.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 23 year old Alexander A. Beddia. During the Deputy Sheriff’s roadside contact with the driver, he smelled an odor of marijuana emanating
from the vehicle. Further investigation by the Deputy Sheriff revealed that Beddia was not only in possession of marijuana, but also crack cocaine, smoking devices, and a digital scale.
Beddia was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the7th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.
Beddia was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. Beddia was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Ossian Justice Gordon Wilson. The Judge remanded Beddia to the custody of the Sheriff on $250 cash bail or $500 bond.
