ROCHESTER—Students of East High School paired with “celebrity” sous chefs to compete in the 4th annual Iron Chef Competition.
Tajhnae Couser was awarded the first place prize of a $500 scholarship to the school of her choice. Sergio Garcia and Allen Pinkins followed in second and third place, respectively.
An expert panel of judges based their evaluations on teamwork, personal appearance, food safety, knife skills, flavor, and presentation. Judges included Food Network chef Daisy Martines, Wegmans Director of Asian Cuisine John Emerson, Wegmans Executive chef Andy Golden, and Rochester chefs Mike Speranza and Brad Yearwood.
Proceeds from ticket sales for the event benefitted the East High Culinary Program.
