CONESUS LAKE — A Northern Water snake was photographed at the south Conesus Lake inlet by a local nature photographer.
The Northern Water Snake is admittedly a little scary looking and carries with it plenty of myths and are frequently mistaken for copperheads or water moccasins but are not dangerous to humans.
“I would say it was close to 3 feet long,” stated Joseph Stevenson, who took the wonderful photo. “There were a couple located at the end of the dike.”
Stevenson has spent the winter taking spectacular images of a local Arctic Owl that were previously shared with GeneseeSun.com readers.
