LIVONIA — Sunday evening first responders were called to a Center Road residence for the report of an elderly man stuck in a well.
According to the report from the Livonia Fire Department, after receiving the call at 5:55 p.m., Assistant Chief Woodruff arrived on the scene to find the man conscious, alert and breathing but unable to get himself out of the well.
Neighbors had already come to his aid and gotten him to a standing position and were assisting in controlling the bleeding from a head wound the man sustained.
The man was later extracted by the Fire Department using an attic ladder. He was evaluated by EMS and transported to a local hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries.
Other responding units were: Engine 256 (Captain Sexton, Lieutenant McGregor), Engine 254, Grass Truck 253, Squad 251, Livonia EMS Supervisor 2961, Medic 74, Ambulance 2981 and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
