LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The SUNY Geneseo student who is alleged to have stolen a village ambulance and driven it while drunk along Main Street is challenging the way in which evidence in his case was presented to the Grand Jury.
Dahlberg’s attorney, Peter Skivingston, requested that the Judge review the minutes of the Grand Jury for any errors in the way the case was presented.
“After the Judge’s decision we will likely have hearings over the next week,” said Skivingston. “We will see if this case will go to trial or if it can be resolved.”
Dahlberg was indicted in January for Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Second Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, all of which are felonies, and Obstructing Emergency Medical Services, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, DWI, and Aggravated DWI, all misdemeanors.
In the early hours of Dec. 5, 2015, an ambulance crew with Geneseo Fire and Ambulance responded to a 911 call to Genesee Hall on campus for a heavily intoxicated person. Police believe that Dahlberg jumped into the driver’s seat of the ambulance and took off down Main Street with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.2, more than twice over the legal limit for alcohol.
Geneseo Police Officers and Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies found the ambulance parked near the Post Office on South Street, but when they approached the driver, he fled on foot. Officer Raymond Goulet chased and arrested Dahlberg on Center Street near Main Street, assisted by Sheriff’s Deputies.
Dahlberg’s bail was set at $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond. He has since made bail and been released.
