UTICA — The Utica Boilermaker, a 15 kilometer road race, took place this morning featuring over 8000 finishers.

The race drew in a great field of runners, featuring professionals and local elites alike.
The winner of the Men’s race, Teshome Asfaha clocked in with a time of 43:58. This equates to a
blistering 4:43 per mile pace. The winner of the Women’s race was Cynthia Limo, finishing the course in a time of 48:50.
The Men’s race featured professional runners such as Girma Mecheso, the first American across the line. Other elites include Reid Coolsaet of Canada, along with Chris Thompson of Great Britain.
Local Elite runner Tim Chichester finished 25 th in the race. Chichester ran for SUNY Geneseo’s Track and Cross Country Programs, graduating in 2010. Other notable American finishers in the race include Tyler McCandless (15th ), Aaron Dinzeo (16th ), and Colin Leak (20th ).
On the Women’s side, Olympian Jen Rhines took the title of first American across the line, finishing in 12th place. She covered the 15k course in 52:19.
The Boilermaker is a road racing staple in Upstate NY. Taking place on the second Sunday of July, the race consistently brings in top tier elite runners from all over the globe.
