VILLAGE OF DANSVILLE: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Morrisville, NY resident on felony charges after a traffic stop.
On December 28, 2018 Deputy Michael Wade was on patrol and stopped a vehicle on Liberty Street in the Village of Dansville for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 35 year old Brett A. Herrick. During the course of the Deputy Sheriff’s roadside investigation, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Herrick was in possession of
approximately twelve (12) ounces of marijuana (3/4 of a pound). Herrick was arrested and charged with felony Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 3rd Degree.
Herrick was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge and requested that the Judge hold Herrick on
$2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
Herrick was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Geneseo Justice Kathleen Houston. The Judge remanded Herrick to the custody of the Sheriff on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.
