During Monday night’s Village Board meeting, Mayor Freeman explained the initial two phases in the plan to solve flash flooding and drainage issues in the village.
The retention pond is phase one, and diverting water north east of Pole Bridge Road North of Rte. 5 and 20 will be phase two.
Village officials are hopeful that the second phase will start in October, depending on New York State D.O.T. approval.
Mayor Freeman anticipates the construction of the retention pond, located just south of the Avon High School baseball field, will take approximately one month to complete.
