UPDATE: Victim in Fatal Geneseo Accident was SUNY Geneseo Student

GENESEO – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office confirms that the deceased driver in Tuesday’s fatal accident was an 18-year-old girl.

According to Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, the truck was northbound on Rte. 63 when the 18-year-old pulled into its path out of Court Street.

“Another tractor trailer was northbound and used brakes and veered out of the way to avoid the collision,” said Dougherty.

Dougherty said that the name of the victim will not be released until tomorrow, when adequate notification is given to the family.

The accident occurred after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rte. 63 and Court Street.

Witnesses say that they clearly heard the collision from as far away as Meadow Drive.

“My thoughts and my prayers are with [first responders] but moreso the family of this young girl,” said Dougherty. “My heart breaks for this family that we’re reaching out to notify that they won’t have a daughter home for Christmas.”
