Avon Nursing and Rehabilitation is celebrating the recovery of one of its residents from COVID-19. Henrietta, better known as “Hank” to her friends and staff, is 101 years young and has called Avon home since 2012.
With Hank’s recovery, her care team reports that she is excited to get back to doing what she enjoys most, watching birds from her window while drinking her favorite beverage of coffee and milk. One of the most important ‘extra’ duties of Avon Nursing and Rehabilitation’s team is ensuring that the bird feeders around the facility are filled weekly to attract the colorful birds that Hank sees and reports back on to her fellow residents and staff.
“At the age of 101, Hank’s warm smile brightens the day of all those she interacts with and her recovery serves as an inspiration to all of us here at Avon Nursing and Rehabilitation,” said James Donofrio, Administrator at Avon Nursing and Rehabilitation. “Her committed and dedicated caregivers, coupled with her strength and resiliency, were instrumental in her recovery.”
To date, 7 residents of Avon Nursing and Rehabilitation have recovered from COVID-19, as well as over 30 residents of Hurlbut Care Communities including fellow centenarian, Lucy, 104, who calls Hornell Gardens her home.
