SPRINGWATER – One person died and at least two were injured in a car accident in Springwater late Sunday morning.
According to a press release from the New York State Police, Lisa Price, 42, of Lima, was operating a 2009 Kia Rio southbound on Rte. 15A. Price was attempting to turn left into a State Forest trail access parking area when she drove into the path of an oncoming 2008 Mitsubishi Mirage driven northbound by Paul Russell, 51, of Springwater at about 11:24 a.m.
Carl Edwards, 67, of Elnora, Indiana, a passenger in Price’s vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deborah Edwards, 59, of Elnora, Indiana, also a passenger of Price’s, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital. Price was transported to Strong via ambulance.
Firefighters had to extricate the victims from Price’s car.
Firefighters with the Springwater Fire Department responded to the scene alongside Livingston County EMS, New York State Police and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
